An orchard is never only about the flower.

By the time something blooms, much has already happened.

A seed existed.

The soil had to support it.

Roots formed.

A structure developed.

Branches extended.

The environment changed.

There were periods of rapid growth and periods that looked quiet.

Eventually, something became visible.

Then the fruit of one cycle became the beginning of another.

Education works in a similar way.

A result appears at the end of a long chain of processes.

The examination mark is visible.

The learning system that created it is mostly hidden.

A student may need to return to the roots while continuing to grow.

A new educational stage may require old foundations to be reorganised.

The Orchard therefore does not describe a single straight line.

It describes continuity.

Something is carried forward.

Something changes.

Something becomes the foundation of what comes next.

Strengths.
